As a Senior (2011-12)
Simson was co-captain during his senior season, and he ended his Cornell career by placing 28th at the Ivy League Championship in April. Simson averaged an 80.3 round for the year, and he took part in four total tournaments. His to-par average of +9.2 seventh on the roster.

At Cornell
Simson competed in one tournament, shooting a three-round total of 242 at the Cornell Invitational in 2010-11. As a sophomore in 2009-10, Simson played in one tournament, playing for the B team at the Cornell Fall Invitational. Simson shot a consistent 163. Simson played in eight tournaments, including the Ivy League championship, for a total of 16 rounds in 2008-09. His two lowest rounds of the season came at the Ivy League championships, finishing tied for 24th overall after a one-under-par 71 in the first round and a solid 72 in the final round. Simson finished his first season with the Big Red with a 79.13 cumulative average.

At The Columbus Academy
Simson was a first-team all-state honoree as a senior at The Columbus Academy. He was a member of the state runner-up team three times (2005, '06 and '08) and was a two-year captain. Simson qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur tournament in 2007 and letter four times in golf. He also competed on the tennis team.

Personal
Alexander Michael Simson is the son of Doug and Joyce Simson and has an older sister. He is enrolled in the College of Human Ecology.
