As a Freshman (2011-12)
Hoffman competed in one tournament in his freshman season, scoring a 256 in the Big Red Invitational in late September. Hoffman's year-low round of 82 came in the second round of that tournament.

Before Cornell
Hoffman was captain at the Sage Hill his senior year and was a four-year varsity letterwinner. He received second-team all-league honors for his junior and senior years. The Sage Hill team won the Academy League twice during his tenure, including a 10-0 season during his sophomore season. Hoffman was also student body president his senior year.
