Jaye posted four individual top 10 finishes and six top 20 efforts as the team's low scorer on the year (career-low 74.47). He shot two rounds in the 60s, including a career-low 68 in the final round at Princeton, and placed 13th overall in the Ivy League championships. His best finishes were fourth at Yale and fifth at St. Bonaventure. In all, Jaye was the team's top finisher in four of the team's seven tournaments. Jaye competed in the team's first five competitions of the 2008-09 season before being injured, averaging a 75.75 in eight rounds with a low of 70 in the first round of the Navy Intercollegiate en route to an eighth-place finish. As a freshman, Jaye played in all eight tournaments for a total of 19 rounds. He shot a season-low of 69 in the second round of the Leo Keenan Invitational at St. Bonaventure as part of a 12th-place effort and also was fourth at the Big Five Invite. He averaged a 75.68 over in 19 rounds.

At James I. O'Neill HS
Jaye was a three-time all-state selection at Jame I. O'Neill HS. The 2007 county champion, Jaye placed in the top 15 at the state meet with a pair of top 10 individual finishes. He won several individual medalist honors, including collecting titles at the 2007 Masters North and the West Point Club tournaments. He was also the Orange County Junior captain. A three-sport athlete who also lettered five times total in soccer and ice hockey, Jaye was captain of the soccer team as a senior.

Personal
Matthew Walter Jaye is the son of Michael and Donna Jaye and has two sisters and a brother. He is enrolled in the School of Hotel Administration.
