Biography

As a senior (2018-19)
• Did not compete.

As a freshman (2015-16) 
• Rowed in the third varsity eight that took the silver medal at the 2016 Eastern Sprints.
• During the season, he helped the crew earn the Leonard Cup with a win over Penn and Harvard, as well as posting victories over Yale, Columbia, MIT, and Dartmouth.
• Rowed in the varsity 4+ that took third in the Petite Final, good for eighth overall at the IRA National Championship.
• Rowed in the Cornell lightweight eight that won its qualifying round to earn a spot in the Temple Challenge Cup at the 177th edition of the Henley Royal Regatta.

Prior to Cornell
• Rowed for Mile High Rowing Club, earning medals at the Head of the Oklahoma, and USRowing Club Nationals.
• Earned gold and silver medals at the Denver indoor rowing championship.
• Lettered twice in football at Cherry Creek High School.
 
Personal
• Adam Shaw Tavel is the son of Arnold and Susan Tavel and he has one older sister, Danielle, who plays soccer for RPI.
• His uncle, Jeff Hartman, was a member of the U.S. Olympic Bicycle Team that competed in Seoul, South Korea, while his aunt, Shari Tavel, attended Cornell.
• Enrolled in the School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
