Biography
• IRA National Champion with the lightweight eight (2019)
• Member of the IRA Lightweight Crew of the Year (2019)
As a junior (2019-20)
• Part of the lightweight varsity eight that earned bronze at the 55th Head of the Charles Regatta, crossing the finish line in 14:13.256.
• Helped the lightweight varsity eight secure a second place finish in Flight 1 at the Princeton Chase, posting a time of 13:14.933.
• Won the men’s 2- with partner David Tigerman at the Cornell Autumn Classic, posting a winning time of 13:25.08.
• Member of the Cornell A 8+ boat that finished as the runner-up in Flight 2 at the Cornell Autumn Classic with a mark of 11:03.56.
• Spring 2020 season canceled due to COVID-19.
As a sophomore (2018-19)
• Served as the bowman for the varsity eight as a sophomore.
• Guided the Big Red to its eighth IRA National Championship, and the team’s fourth national championship in the last six seasons.
• Member of the varsity eight boat that was named the 2019 IRA Lightweight Crew of the Year.
• Rowed in the varsity eight at the EARC Sprints.
• Led Cornell to its 25th Matthews Trophy.
• Helped the Big Red win the Geiger Cup, Platt Cup, and Harriet Trophy.
As a freshman (2017-18)
• Rowed in the varsity eight for four of the final five races during his freshman season.
• Opened the year in the second varsity eight vs. Harvard and Penn.
• Helped the varsity eight earn victories over MIT, and Dartmouth.
• Was in the varsity eight that took sixth overall at Eastern Sprints.
• Rowed in the lightweight 4- that advanced to the Petite Finals at IRAs.
Prior to Cornell
• Was a member of the US Junior Team and competed at the 2017 World Rowing Junior Championships in the men's pair.
• Won the men's pair at the 2017 Under 23 World Trials.
• Placed third in the Lightweight Junior Men's Event at the CRASH B World Indoor Rowing Championships.
• Rowed for five years with Princeton National Rowing Association/Mercer.
• Served as co-captain of PNRA/Mercer for the 2016-17 season.
• Won 2014 Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship in the men's lightweight eight.
• Placed seventh at the 2015 Head of the Charles in the men's junior eight.
• Took 10th at the 2014 Head of the Charles in the men's junior four.
Personal
• Andrew Kennedy Hickey is the son of Thomas and Shelia Hickey and he has one sister.
• Sister, Kate, was a member of the women's lightweight rowing team at Stanford University.
• Cousin, Daniel Kennedy-Moore, was a member of the men's heavyweight rowing team at Penn.
• Cousin, Sheila Kennedy-Moore, was a member of the women's lightweight rowing team at MIT.
• Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
