Biography
As a sophomore (2019-20)
• Part of the lightweight varsity eight that earned bronze at the 55th Head of the Charles Regatta, crossing the finish line in 14:13.256.
• Helped the lightweight varsity eight secure a second place finish in Flight 1 at the Princeton Chase, posting a time of 13:14.933.
• Teamed up with Evan Krum to compete in the men’s 2- in Flight 1 at the Cornell Autumn Classic.
• Member of the Cornell A 8+ boat that finished as the runner-up in Flight 2 at the Cornell Autumn Classic with a mark of 11:03.56.
• Spring 2020 season canceled due to COVID-19.
As a freshman (2018-19)
• Rowed with the second varsity eight as a freshman.
• Helped the second varsity eight win the EARC Sprints and earn a gold medal with a time of 6:42.95.
• Won the Petite Final with the varsity 4- at the IRA National Championships, finishing seventh overall.
• Guided the second varsity eight to victories over Dartmouth, Princeton, and Columbia.
Prior to Cornell
• Rowed for four years at Augustine Classical Academy.
• Gold in the junior 2x at the 2016 Stotesbury Cup.
• Bronze in the senior 2x at both the 2017 NY State Championships and the 2017 Stotesbury cup.
• Bronze in the junior 2x at the 2016 NY State Championship.
• A member of the Saratoga Rowing Association
• Gold in the intermediate lightweight 2x at eh 2018 Club Nationals.
• Gold in the under-17 4x at the 2016 Club Nationals
• Advanced to the finals of both the under-19 4x and the under-23 lightweight 2x at the 2017 Canadian Henley.
• Rowed in the finals of the under-17 2x at the 2016 Club Nationals.
• Placed 11th in the junior eight at the Head of the Charles.
Personal
• Benjamin Tucker Hopkins is the son of Matthew and Tamra Hopkins and he has five sisters and three brothers.
• Enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
