Biography
• Team Captain (2019-20)
• IRA National Champion with the lightweight eight (2019)
• Member of the IRA Lightweight Crew of the Year (2019)
• IRA All-Academic Team (2019)
As a senior (2019-20)
• Elected team captain for the 2019-20 campaign.
• Part of the lightweight varsity eight that earned bronze at the 55th Head of the Charles Regatta, crossing the finish line in 14:13.256.
• Helped the lightweight varsity eight secure a second place finish in Flight 1 at the Princeton Chase, posting a time of 13:14.933.
• Member of the Cornell A 8+ boat that finished as the runner-up in Flight 2 at the Cornell Autumn Classic with a mark of 11:03.56.
• Spring 2020 season canceled due to COVID-19.
As a junior (2018-19)
• Rowed in the varsity eight boat during his junior year.
• Guided the Big Red to its eighth IRA National Championship, and the team’s fourth national championship in the last six seasons.
• Member of the varsity eight boat that was named the 2019 IRA Lightweight Crew of the Year.
• Rowed in the varsity eight at the EARC Sprints.
• Led Cornell to its 25th Matthews Trophy.
• Helped the Big Red win the Geiger Cup, Platt Cup, and Harriet Trophy.
As a sophomore (2017-18)
• Rowed in the second varsity eight for the majority of his sophomore season before moving into the varsity eight for IRAs.
• Won a silver medal in the second varsity eight at Eastern Sprints.
• Helped the second varsity eight to wins over Princeton, MIT, and Dartmouth.
• Was in the varsity eight that took second in the Petite Finals at IRAs.
Prior to Cornell
• Rowed at Winter Park High School for four years.
• Was a varsity eight Scholastic State Champion in 2016.
• Was a member of the second varsity eight that won a Scholastic State Championship in 2014 and 2015.
• Also earned bronze at the SRAA Scholastic Nationals rowing for the second varsity eight in 2014.
• Helped the Winter Park freshman eight to a Scholastic State Championship in 2013.
• Honored with the Coach’s Award for Winter Park in 2016.
Personal
• Cameron Drew Bertossa is the son of Dan and Jeannette Bertossa and has one brother and one sister.
• Enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
