Biography
• IRA National Champion with the lightweight eight (2019)
• Member of the IRA Lightweight Crew of the Year (2019)
As a junior (2019-20)
• Part of the lightweight varsity eight that earned bronze at the 55th Head of the Charles Regatta, crossing the finish line in 14:13.256.
• Helped the lightweight varsity eight secure a second place finish in Flight 1 at the Princeton Chase, posting a time of 13:14.933.
• Member of the Cornell A 8+ boat that finished as the runner-up in Flight 2 at the Cornell Autumn Classic with a mark of 11:03.56.
• Teamed up with Ben Hopkins to compete in the men’s 2- in Flight 1 at the Cornell Autumn Classic.
• Spring 2020 season canceled due to COVID-19.
As a sophomore (2018-19)
• Rowed in the varsity eight during his sophomore year.
• Guided the Big Red to its eighth IRA National Championship, and the team’s fourth national championship in the last six seasons.
• Member of the varsity eight boat that was named the 2019 IRA Lightweight Crew of the Year.
• Rowed in the varsity eight at the EARC Sprints.
• Led Cornell to its 25th Matthews Trophy.
• Helped the Big Red win the Geiger Cup, Platt Cup, and Harriet Trophy.
As a freshman (2017-18)
• Rowed in both the second and third varsity eight boats during his freshman year.
• Won a silver medal in the second varsity eight at Eastern Sprints.
• Helped the second varsity eight to victories over Princeton MIT, and Dartmouth.
• Earned a win with the third varsity eight against Penn.
Prior to Cornell
• A two-time U.S. Junior National Team member.
• Stroked the U.S. Junior Team coxless four at the 2017 Junior World Championships.
• Served as a spare for the U.S. Junior National Team at the 2016 Junior World Championships.
• Rowed for three years with Newport Aquatic Center.
• Served as the NAC team captain during the 2016-2017 season.
• Won gold in the junior men's varsity eight at the 2017 US Youth National Championships
• Earned three medals at the 2017 US Southwest Regional Championships, winning gold in both the junior men's varsity eight and the junior men’s coxless pair, while taking silver in the junior men’s four.
• Took home a gold medal (junior men's lightweight four) and a silver medal (junior men's varsity eight) from the 2016 US Southwest Regional Championships.
• Won gold medals in both the junior men's novice eight and the junior men's novice four at the 2015 US Southwest Regional Championships.
• Won the NAC Novice Year MVP award following the 2014-15 season.
• Played one year of soccer at Orange Lutheran High School.
Personal
• Evan Michael Krum is the son of Joseph and L. Kaye Krum and he has one brother and one sister.
• Enrolled in the College of Engineering.
