At Cornell
Gabrielle Steinl was a solid coxswain for the men’s lightweight rowing team. Her senior season, she coxed the undefeated varsity eight that won the 2017 IRA National Championships. This crew was named both the EARC and IRA Lightweight Crew of the Year. Steinl was a consistent cox for the varsity eight her senior season and led the crew to Cornell’s 11th Ivy League Championship at the 2017 EARC Sprints. By virtue of winning the Ivy League, Steinl was also named first-team All-Ivy. Steinl began her career by coxing the freshman eight that took the bronze medal at the 2014 Eastern Sprints and helped the program earn its their first Jope Cup since 2008. Her sophomore season, Steinl coxed the lightweight four to a fourth-place finish at the 2015 IRA National Championships. She also assisted the Big Red in receiving its second consecutive Jope Cup by coxing the third varsity eight that won a gold medal at the 2015 EARC Sprints. As a junior, Steinl coxed the varsity eight that won the Matthew Cup and Baggley Bowl.
