Biography

As a senior (2018-19)
• Rowed on the fourth varsity eight boat during his senior campaign.
• Helped the fourth varsity eight advance its boat to the Grand Finals of the EARC Sprints, placing fifth overall.
• Competed on one of the two Cornell varsity four boats against Dartmouth.

As a junior (2017-18)

• Moved into the third varsity eight for the final three races of the season after rowing with the fourth varsity eight vs. Harvard/Penn and Princeton.
• Helped the third varsity eight to wins against Columbia, and Dartmouth.
• Rowed with the third varsity eight that took sixth place at Eastern Sprints.
 
As a sophomore (2016-17)
• Consistent member of the fourth varsity eight throughout his sophomore season.
• Helped the crew take bronze in the Grand Final at the 2017 EARC Sprints.

As a freshman (2015-16)
• Rowed in the fourth varsity eight that took the bronze medal at the 2016 Eastern Sprints.
• Helped Cornell earn the Leonard Cup with a win over Penn and Harvard, as well as posting victories over Princeton and Yale.

Prior to Cornell
• Rowed for four years at Boston College High School.
• Participated in the 2015 Henley Royal Regatta, helping his crew to a quarterfinalist appearance in the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup.
• His crew also won a silver medal in the U23 Men’s 8+ at the Marlow Regatta.
• As a senior, he helped Boston College to a fourth place finish at the NEIRA in the boys’ varsity eight, after taking the silver medal at the 2014 NEIRA regatta.
• As a junior, he won a gold in the U19 Men’s 8+ at the Canadian Henley and helped his team win the New England Fall Championships Team Points Trophy.
• During the 2013 rowing season, Evitts won a gold medal in the boys’ second varsity eight at the NEIRA Regatta, helping Boston College to win the Boy’s Team Points Trophy.
 
Personal
• John Edward Evitts is the son of Stephen and Christine Evitts and he has two brothers.
• Enrolled in the College of Engineering.
