Biography
At Brockville HS
Smylie rowed for four years at Brockville high school. He won a gold medal at the 2005 Canadian Henley Regatta, and another gold in 2009. As a senior, he helped his crew to a first place finish at the Canadian High School Rowing Championships. He was a three-time Ontario Champion and was selected to row at the Can-Am-Mex Regatta. Smylie also won the 2009 Canadian National Team Junior Trials.
Personal
Joel Aubrey Thomas Smylie is the son of Tom and Jackie Smylie and he has one older brother. He is enrolled in the College of Human Ecology.
