Redos was one of just three underclassmen to row in the varsity eight during the 2011-12 season, helping the Big Red to a fifth place finish at the IRA Championship and a sixth place finish at EARC Sprints. The varsity eight won the Matthews Cup and the Leonard Cup against Penn, edged Princeton by .3 seconds to win the Platt Cup for the first time since 2007, and defeated Columbia and MIT for its fifth consecutive Geiger Cup. Over the summer, Redos represented the United States at the U23 World Championships as a member of the lightweight quadruple scull. Redos rowed with the first varsity eight during his sophomore season, helping the crew take fourth place at the2011 IRA National Championship. He made the Friedman Strength and Conditioning Wall of Honor, which is an indicator of fitness and raw power. Redos won a gold medal at 2010 Eastern Sprints as a member of the Big Red’s freshman eight crew. Following his rookie season, he rowed in the US Quad and took 12th at the U23 World Championships.

At Blair Academy
Redos earned three varsity letters at the Blair Academy. He won a bronze medal in the Senior-4 at the 2009 Stotesbury Cup Regatta, after taking the gold in 2008. Redos also won silver in the Junior-4 at Stotesbury in 2007. He helped his crew to a Mid-Atlantic Prep League championship in 2007 and 2008, and was named to eh MAPL All-Academic team in 2009. As a junior, Redo won a silver medal at the USRowing Youth National Championships in the quad.

Personal
John Patrick Redos is the son of John and Tammy Redos and he has one younger brother. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
