Biography
At Cornell
A smart and savvy coxswain, Quinn earned a spot steering the USA Lightweight-8 for the World Championships held this summer in Poznan, Poland. A two-time letter winner for the Big Red, he was the coxswain of Cornell’s 2008 Ivy League championship lightweight varsity-8 and was named first-team All-Ivy as a result.
At St. Joseph’s Preparatory School
Quinn rowed all four years and lettered three times at St. Joseph’s prep, where he served as the team’s coxswain. He was his team’s captain as a senior and helped his crew to four straight Philadelphia Catholic League team championships from 2002-06. Quinn’s crews never finished below second place in any sprint regatta during his entire high school career. During that same time, of the 16 major championships, his boats took first place 10 times and second place in the other six. He won gold at the Sotesbury Cup Regatta in the freshman-8 in 2003 and with the junior-8 in 2004. Quinn also won a Scholastic Rowing Association National Championship in the junior-8 in 2004. He also helped the St. Joseph’s heavyweight-8 to a second place finish at the USRowing Youth National Championship in 2006, the highest ever finish for the school. Quinn also rowed for the United States at the 2006 World Rowing Junior Championships in Amsterdamn. As coxswain of the quad, he helped the US to a seventh place finish.
Personal
Kerry James Quinn is the son of James and Joan Quinn and he has two younger sisters. He is enrolled in the College of Architecture, Art and Planning.
