Biography
• 2019 IRA All-Academic team
As a senior (2018-19)
• Rowed on the second varsity eight during his senior year.
• Led the second varsity eight to a gold medal at the EARC sprints with a time of 6:42.95.
• Won a bronze with the varsity 4+ in the Grande Final at the IRA Championships.
• Guided the second varsity eight to victories over Dartmouth, Princeton, and Columbia.
As a junior (2017-18)
• Rowed in the varsity eight during his junior season.
• Led the crew to victories over Penn, MIT, and Dartmouth.
• Helped the Cornell varsity eight take sixth overall at Eastern Sprints.
• Stroked the lightweight 4- that advanced to the Petite Finals at IRAs.
As a sophomore (2016-17)
• Consistent member of the second varsity eight throughout his sophomore season.
• Rowed the crew to victory over Columbia and MIT.
• Also helped the second varsity eight defeat Dartmouth.
• Rowed with the varsity four at the IRA National Championships, taking fourth place in the Grand Final.
As a freshman (2015-16)
• Rowed in the fourth varsity eight that took the bronze medal at the 2016 Eastern Sprints.
• Helped Cornell earn the Leonard Cup with a win over Penn and Harvard, as well as posting victories over Princeton and Yale.
• Rowed in the Cornell lightweight eight that won its qualifying round to earn a spot in the Temple Challenge Cup at the 177th edition of the Henley Royal Regatta.
Prior to Cornell
• Rowed for three years with the Orange County Rowing Association, serving as team captain in the fall of 2014 and the summer of 2015.
• Won consecutive silver medals at the NY State Championships in the Boys Senior 4x (2014, 2015), and advanced to the semifinals at Club Nationals in the U19 single race during those same seasons.
• Also won a bronze at the 2015 NY State Championships in the boys’ single.
• Was a semifinalist at the 2015 Canadian Henley in the U19 single and the U19 quad, as well as a semifinalist at the 2015 SRAA Championship.
Personal
• Luke Powell Sendelbach is the son of Matthew ’92 and Kimberly Sendelbach ’93 and he has two brothers and two sisters.
• In addition to his parents, his grandparents and several aunts and uncles also attended Cornell.
• Enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
