Biography

As a sophomore (2019-20)

• Member of the Big Red’s lightweight four at the 55th Head of the Charles Regatta, helping the boat place sixth among 16 boats in 16:18.277.
• Rowed on the second varsity eight that placed eighth out of 30 boats in Flight 1 at the Princeton Chase with a time of 13:35.915.
• Helped the Big Red frosh novice boat notch a second place finish in Flight 1 at the Cornell Autumn Classic with a time of 12:11.25.
• Spring 2020 season canceled due to COVID-19.

As a freshman (2018-19)

• Rowed on the fourth varsity eight boat during his freshman year.
• Helped the fourth varsity eight advance to the Grand Finals of the EARC Sprints, placing fifth overall.
• Competed on one of two Cornell varsity four boats against Dartmouth.

Prior to Cornell

• Was a member of the Seattle Rowing Center and helped the boathouse win four Men's Points Trophies at the Northwest Regional Championships.
• Silver medal in the men’s lightweight eight at the 2015 Northwest Regional Championships.
• Silver medal in the men’s lightweight four at the 2016 Northwest Regional Championships.
• Placed eighth in the men’s lightweight four at the 2016 Youth National Championships.
• Finished seventh in the men’s double at the 2016 Head of the Charles.
• Silver medal in the men’s varsity quad at the 2017 Northwest Regional Championships.
• Fifth place finish in the men’s varsity double at the 2017 Head of the Charles.
• Gold medal in both the men’s varsity quad and double at the 2018 Northwest Regional Championships.
• Sixth place finish in the men' double at the 2018 Youth National Championships.
• Took eighth in the men’s quad at the 2018 Youth National Championships.
• Rowed at the Youth National Championships all four years of high school.
• Is the under-19 lightweight world record holder in the Million Meter Small Team Erg Relay with a time of 65 hours, 37 minutes and 28.8 seconds.
• Two-time Seattle Rowing Center Winter Mileage Competition winner.

Personal

• Malcolm Joseph Shure is the son of Steven and Ann Shure and he has one brother and one sister.
• Father, Steven, played soccer for Harvard.
• Brother, Harrison, was a member of the lightweight rowing team at Princeton.
• Cousins, Mike and Ted Doolittle, were members of the heavyweight rowing team at Harvard.
• Enrolled in the School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
