Biography
At Cornell
As a junior, Clauss rowed from the bow seat in the varsity eight that won the national championship at the IRA Regatta to cap a spectacular undefeated 2015 season. He also rowed in the varsity eight that won the Jope Cup, Ivy League Championship, and the Joseph Wright Trophy by taking first overall among all varsity eight boats at the 2015 EARC Sprints. By virtue of winning the Ivy League, Clauss was named first-team All-Ivy. Following the season, the varsity eight was named both the EARC and the IRA Lightweight Crew of the Year.  Clauss moved into the second varsity eight boat during his sophomore season, earning a bronze medal at the 2014 Eastern Sprints and helping the Big Red to earn its first Jope Cup since 2008. As a rookie, Clauss rowed in the first freshman eight that won the silver medal at the 2013 EARC Sprints.
Prior to Cornell
Clauss competed four years in crew at Christian Brothers Academy, leading the team to the 2011 scholastic national championship in the lightweight four and a second place finish in the same event as a senior.
Personal
Paul David Clauss is the son of Paul and Kim Clauss and he has one older sister. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
