Joe Schneck

Joe Schneck is entering his eighth season an assistant coach with the Cornell men’s soccer program in 2013. Schneck served as an interim assistant coach during the 2006 season before being named to the position full-time in December of 2006. The Mt. Laurel, N.J., native is a 2004 graduate of The College of New Jersey.

Since coming to Cornell, Schneck has helped oversee a dramatic turnaround in the Big Red's soccer program. A team that was consistenty toward the bottom of the Ivy League claimed the conference championship during the 2012 season. Schneck was part of a coaching staff that brought the Big Red to a 15-2 record overall, its first outright league championship since 1977 and its first NCAA Tournament berth since 1996. Over the last four seasons, the Big Red's defense and offense have both imrpoved drastically, and Cornell had four players make the All-Ivy First Team in 2012 including Ivy League Player of the Year Daniel Haber.

Schneck spent the 2004 and 2005 season as a graduate assistant coach at his alma mater while he pursued his master’s degree in athletic administration at the institution. His team went 16-3-1 in 2005, advancing to the Elite 8 round of the NCAA Tournament before finishing the year ranked fifth nationally.

A four-year letterman with the Lions, Schneck earned several honors as a member of the men’s soccer team at TCNJ. As a senior, he earned a spot on the 2003 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) – Adidas Metro Regional All-America honorable mention team.

A CoSIDA Academic All-District II College Division second team honoree, Schneck was the Lions’ co-captain during his senior season and collected 49 points in 74 games played on 17 goals and 15 assists. A Dean’s List Student, he was also a four-time TCNJ scholar-athlete and the 2004 recipient of the Dr. Harold Eickhoff Outstanding Senior Scholar-Athlete Award as the top senior male scholar-athlete.

In the summer of 2008, Schneck was awarded an Advanced National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). He has coached the Under-14 and U-16 teams for TC United.

Schneck lives in Ithaca with his wife, Kristen, and their daughter, Noelle.
