As a Senior (2014)Goepel was the Big Red's clear number one creator and scoring threat this past season. He led the team with new career highs in goals (7) and points (17), while his three assists also were a new career best. Always showing a penchant for delivering in the clutch moments, Goepel led the Ivy League with five game-winning goals on the season, which included the dazzling goal in overtime against Columbia to notch the Big Red's 10
th victory of the year. He became the first Big Red player since Daniel Haber in 2012 to earn Ivy League Player of the Week honors in consecutive weeks. He concludes his career as one of the program's all-time greatest scorers ranking tied for 12
th in goals (19), 13
th in points (44), and second all-time in game-winning goals (11). He was a Second Team All-Ivy and NSCAA Third Team All-Region selection following the conclusion of the season.
As a Junior (2013)Goepel finished second on the team in points for the second straight season, finsiehd with seven points on three goals and one assist. A big moment player for the Big Red in 2013, each of Goepel's three goals were game winners. His first goal of the season helped Cornell capture Hartwick's Mayor's Cup in double overtime, while his second also came in a double overtime situation against Cal State Fullerton in the first round of the CU Inaria Cup. Goepel also assisted on Jake Rinow's game-tying goal in the 89th minute against CSF to send the game to extra time. His final goal of the season helped Cornell to a 1-0 defeat of Dartmouth. He led the team with 41 shots, including 19 on goal.
As a Sophomore (2012)A dangerous piece of Cornell’s offense, Goepel tied for second on the team in points in his sophomore season with 14 points. He scored six goals -- good for second on the team -- despite missing four games late in the year with an injury. He had a season-high three points at Harvard on Oct. 6 and had the game-winning goals against Saint Joseph’s and Lafayette.
As a Freshman (2011)Goepel's freshman season was a stellar one, as he made more of an impact on the scoreboard than any other first-year player. Goepel twice won the Ivy League's Rookie of the Week award, once for his goal at St. Bonaventure on Sept. 26 and earlier in the year for a game-winning goal against Hofstra on Sept. 18 during which he bloodied his face going up for the ball. His third goal of the year came in a 3-1 win against Harvard on Oct. 8. Goepel played in all 16 games, starting six. Though he spent most of the year as a forward, he played midfield toward the end of the season.
Before CornellGoepel was a two-year captain for Chatham HS, leading his team to the county finals and the state finals as a senior. He was a three-time all-conference pick, including earning first team honors as a senior, and earned three all-county honors as well. He was also named first-team all-state as a senior after earning honorable mention all-state accolades during his junior season.
PersonalConor Steven Goepel is the son of Steven and Cathy Goepel and has three sisters. His sister, Katie, plays tennis at Princeton, and his father played football, baseball and basketball at Colgate, and was drafted in the 12th round of the 1971 NFL draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
