2004 Tri-Captain
Coach Scales on Mahoney
[quote]David was outstanding in many of our big games in 2003. He comes up with the big save when you need it and does a great job of organizing his defenders. I expect David to firmly establish himself as the premier goalkeeper in the Ivy League this fall.[quote]
At Cornell
Mahoney stepped in immediately after transferring from Ivy rival Brown, starting all 16 contests in goal for the Big Red while posting a goals against average of 1.54. He recorded four shutouts, including two in Ivy play (Penn, Yale), and stopped nearly 78 percent of the shots he faced during the season. For his efforts, Mahoney was an All-Ivy honorable mention selection.
At Brown
Mahoney made seven appearances and four starts over the past two seasons at Brown. As a freshman, he posted shutouts against Dartmouth and Harvard to help lead the Bears to a share of the Ivy championship.
At Noble and Greenough
The ISL defensive player of the year on the ISL championship squad as a senior, Mahoney was an all-league, all-state and All-New England selection his senior year at Noble and Greenough School.
