As a Senior (2013)
Kirsch was again an integral part of the Big Red defense, but also stepped into an offensive role his senior season notching two goals, both of which came when the Big Red needed them most; either helping to spark a come-from-behind win or force overtime. He scored against Binghamton and Harvard, and also picked up an assist on Conor Goepel's game winner against Cal State Fullerton. Defensively, he helped Cornell hold opponents to just 11 goals on the season.Â
As a Junior (2012)
Kirsch became a vital part of the Cornell back line during his junior season, starting in 12 contests and helping hold opposing offenses to just 13 goals all year. Kirsch scored his lone goal of the season in the opener at Cal State Fullerton, heading the ball home with just minutes left to begin Cornell’s undefeated run of 12 games to start the year.
As a Sophomore (2011)
Kirsch played in four games as a sophomore, coming off the bench against Hofstra, Binghamton, St. Joseph's and St. Bonaventure in the middle of the year. He played 80 minutes of soccer and took four shots, two of which went on goal.
As a Freshman (2010)
Kirsch made one appearance for the Big Red on the season, coming off the bench in the season finale at Columbia on Nov. 13, a 1-1 draw with the Lions.
Before Cornell
Kirsch was an all-conference selection as a senior and served as team captain for Ridgefield. He played club soccer with Oakwood SC of the U.S. Development Academy.
Personal
John Gregory Kirsch is the son of Steven and Jennifer Kirsch and has a younger brother and a younger sister. He is enrolled in the College of Engineering.
