Biography

As a Senior (2013)
An aggressive outside back with a dangerous throw, Rinow stepped in on offense his senior season producing two goals and two assists – both career highs. His first goal of the season forced overtime against Cal State Fullerton, while his second was the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Binghamton. Rinow finished second on the team with 1,623 minutes played and third in scoring with six points. Rinow earned Second Team All-Ivy honors for serving as a crucial part of the stingy Big Red defense that held opponents to just 11 goals in 2013.

As a Junior (2012)
Rinow kept up his excellent defensive form in 2012, shutting down forwards from the left side of Cornell’s defensive line. He started in 14 games for the Big Red and even earned an assist on Daniel Haber’s game-winner against Columbia on Oct. 10.

As a Sophomore (2011)
Rinow owned the left back position for the Big Red in 2011, starting every game for the team at that position and contributing greatly to the back line that allowed an Ivy League-low 13 goals. Rinow continued to improve from his impressive freshman campaign, and he even added some offense as a sophomore. Rinow scored the game-tying goal against Hartwick on Sept. 11, and he followed that with an assist on the only goal against St. Bonaventure. Rinow played more than 1,500 minutes and took two shots on goal.

As a Freshman (2010)
Rinow appeared in all 17 games as a freshman, making 13 starts along the back line. He was a key component of a defensive unit that allowed just 16 goals in the 17 games on the year. Rinow made his collegiate debut with an appearance in the starting 11 on Sept. 4 against Long Island, and collected three shots during the year.

Before Cornell
Rinow was a second-team all-region and all-state honoree as a senior after garnering Western New York player of the year honors. He was a second-team all-state honoree as a junior and was named first-team all-Western New York and all-conference. A three-time team captain, garnered all-league honors each of his four seasons of high school. Rinow played club soccer with the Empire United Soccer Academy, serving as team captain for two seasons.

Personal
Jacob Daniel Rinow is the son of Albert and Maria Rinow and has an older brother. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
