Biography

Senior Season - 2009
Bouraee capped off his tremendous Cornell career by earning first-team All-Ivy League honors and second-team all-Northeast district accolades. He was a four-time All-Ivy League honoree, twice earning honorable mention and adding second-team honors as a sophomore to his first-team award as a senior. Bouraee finished first on the team in scoring, collecting 16 points on five goals and six assists. He proved to be a dangerous threat up top, scoring his first marker of the year in the tie at Canisius on Sept. 11. Two days later, he picked up a pair of assists in the Big Red's 2-1 win against St. Bonaventure. Bouraee then added another assist in the win against Fairleigh Dickinson on Sept. 20. A week later, against Long Island, Bouraee scored the match-winner and assisted on the other tally in a 2-1 win over the Blackbirds. He picked up an assist at Penn on Oct. 3 and garnered another in the 3-1 win against Colgate. Bouraee then scored another goal at Yale on Oct. 17, then scored the goal that gave Cornell a tie against Princeton on Oct. 31. Bouraee capped off his season by scoring the overtime game-winner against Columbia on Nov. 13, giving the Big Red its first season at .500 since 2001. For his career, Bouraee finished with 48 points, tying him for seventh all-time. He finished 11th in both goals and assists for his career, scoring 19 goals and adding 10 assists.

Junior Season - 2008
Bouraee continued to be an offensive force for the Big Red, leading the team with six points on three goals to earn honorable mention All-Ivy League accolades. He scored his first marker of the year on Sept. 21 in the win at Lafayette, then struck for a pair of goals against Dartmouth in the home finale on Nov. 8. He appeared in all 16 games on the season, earning a starting nod in 14 of those contests.

Sophomore Season - 2007
Bouraee proved his abilities as one of the top offensive threats in the Ivy League as a sophomore, earning second-team all-league honors after leading the Big Red with 22 points on nine goals and four assists. He was named to the all-tournament team at the UK Nike Soccer Classic after helping the Big Red to its first in-season tournament title since 1983, then followed that up with all-tournament honors at the Colgate Adidas Classic after scoring the game-winner in a 3-2 overtime victory over Albany. Bouraee tallied a season-high three points with a goal and an assist against Albany in the Colgate Adidas Classic. Of his nine goals on the year, two were game-winners. Bouraee started all 17 of the Big Red's contests in his sophomore season.

Freshman Season - 2006
Bouraee started seven of the 10 games he appeared in during his freshman season, earning honorable mention All-Ivy League honors for his play. He scored the game’s first goal against Yale on Oct. 13 and later tacked on the game-winning goal on Oct. 28 against Princeton.

At Wall HS

Bouraee won the state championship while playing forward for Wall HS. He set the school’s single-season goal record and was named to the all-county, all-shore, all-state and all-region first teams. He also won the state championship playing for Red Bull N.Y., his club team. Bouraee also swam butterfly and ran the 100 and 200 meters at Wall HS.

Personal

Matthew Bouraee is the son of Madgy and Mervat Bouraee and has two older sisters. He is a student in the College of Arts and Life Sciences.
