As a Sophomore (2012)
Kagie continued to get minutes in his second year on the team, taking part in all but two games as a sophomore a forward off the bench. He started once, against Princeton, and scored three points all year. All three points came in the game against Binghamton on Sept. 25, where he scored a goal on a brilliant individual effort and also assisted on a goal earlier in the game. Kagie’s goal came on his only shot on goal of the season.

As a Freshman (2011)
Kagie, a walk-on, had a terrific first year on East Hill. Starting eight games as a forward and playing nine of them, Kagie had one goal and one assist in a two-game span against Hofstra and  Binghamton on Sept. 18 and Sept. 21. Those were also his first two games of the year. Kagie was named to the Ivy League's Honor Roll for that week and became a starting forward for eight of Cornell's final 11 games.

Before Cornell
Kagie was a three-year letterwinner at Cherry Creek High School where he served as captain for his senior season. Kagie won the 2010 Colorado state championship and earned a second-team all-conference selection in his junior year. Kagie also was a member of the Colorado Rapids U-16 team and played club soccer for the Colorado Storm. With the Storm, Kagie won the 2006 and 2007 State Cup wihile being named the State Cup MVP in 2006.

Personal
Matthew Joseph Kagie is the son of Joe and Jan Kagie. He has a younger brother named Jason. He is enrolled in the College of Engineering and wants to do research in a national lab.
