As a Sophomore (2012)
Leach did not play for the Big Red in 2012.

As a Freshman (2011)
Leach saw action in two games as a freshman, playing 55 minutes combined against Hofstra and Binghamton. He took one corner kick on the year.

Before Cornell
Leach played high school soccer for the powerhouse program at Carroll HS in Southlake, Texas, winning the state 5A Championship and being named the NSCAA National Champions in addition to being tabbed as the second-best program in the nation by ESPNRise. Leach earned all-tournament team honors at the 2011 state tournament and was a first-team all-district and Dallas Morning News all-region selection. He played club soccer most recently with the DFW Tornados.

Personal
Matthew Ryan Leach is the son of Andrew and Susan Stanek and has an older brother and an older sister. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
