As a Sophomore (2012)
Mardesich, recovered from an injury that caused him to miss much of 2011, had a larger role on defense for the Big Red during his sophomore campaign. He played in five games and started two, taking three shots combined against Yale and Brown. The Big Red gave up just three goals in the five games he played.

As a Freshman (2011)
Mardesich started in one game and played in three as a freshman, racking up minutes against Niagara on Sept. 2, Long Island on Sept. 18 and Penn on Oct. 1.

Before Cornell
Mardesich received All-CIF and all-league honors as a senior. He played club soccer for the Los Angeles Galaxy Academy team and was a three-year starter and team captain.

Personal
Matthew Joseph Mardesich is the son of Jack and Jo Ann Mardesich and has a younger brother and a younger sister. He is enrolled in the School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
