2004 Tri-Captain
Coach Scales on Palguta
[quote]We[apos]ve moved Scott around for the past three years to utilize his athleticism and technical ability on the ball. He was very good as our left back this past spring and I believe that this is Scott[apos]s natural position both in college and at the professional level after graduation.[quote]
At Cornell
Palguta hasn[apos]t missed a contest since his Big Red debut in 2001, and he continues to be one of the team[apos]s most valuable players. His experience on both sides of the field is crucial to the team[apos]s success and he looks to finish his career with a standout effort. In 2003, Palguta tied for the team lead in goals with three, scoring the squad[apos]s first goal of the season in a win over St. Bonaventure and adding the game-winner in a 1-0 victory at American. He also tallied a goal against Loyola. Palguta earned All-Ivy honors as a freshman, and his club team, the Cape Cod Crusaders, earned back-to-back PDL national championships.
At Monsignor Donovan
Palguta earned a school-record 11 varsity letters at Monsignor Donovan HS (four in soccer and track, three in basketball). As a senior, Palguta was a first-team all-state, all-parochial, All-Shore, all-county, and all-conference selection. The captain and most valuable player, he earned the Shore Soccer Official[apos]s Senior Excellence Award for sportsmanship, athletic success and academic excellence. He set a school record with 11 points (5g, 1a) in one game. Palguta also was a member of the Region 1 Olympic Development Program.
