Coach Scales on Mendy
[quote]Sean walked-on to the team as a freshman and was a regular starter for us over the past two seasons. He has made himself, through his hard work, a very good Division I soccer player. At Cornell
Mendy made the most of a regular starting role as a junior and should continue to see plenty of time at both the midfield and on defense in 2004. A tough competitior, Mendy is one of many experienced defenders on the team, as his 21 career starts are the fourth-most among this year[apos]s returners.

At Bellarmine
Mendy was a strong contributor to the Bellarmine College Prep squad, which was ranked No. 1 in the nation his senior year. He was an all-league selection and also was part of the San Jose Olympic Development Program.

Personal
Sean Manchi Mendy is the son of Gail Lamchick and Augustus Mendy. He has a younger brother and a younger sister. Sean is a government major in Cornell[apos]s College of Arts and Sciences.
