Biography

As a Senior (2017)
• Appeared in 12 games during his senior year campaign, racking up 299 minutes of match action.
• Played a season-high 45 minutes against then-No. 11 Syracuse (9/19) in the team’s monumental 1-0 overtime victory.
• Ended the year with three total shots.

As a Junior (2016)
• Remained a key contributor in the Big Red midfield as a junior, playing in every single game and earning 14 starts.
• Logged at least 50 minutes in 16 fixtures and his 1,224 total minutes ranked third among Big Red field players.
• Totaled two points on the season, assisting on a goal in Cornell's season-opening 2-2 tie against Central Connecticut State on Sept. 2 and then helping out on a goal in the team's loss to American on Sept. 11.

As a Sophomore (2015)
• Continued to be one of the Big Red’s top midfielders as a sophomore, playing and starting all 17 games, rarely leaving the pitch.
• Finished the season with 1,447 minutes, second most on the team. He was solid in his central midfield role, frequently playing a part in creating some of the team’s best offensive opportunities.
• Assisted on Cornell’s first goal of the season, which came just over six minutes into the opener at Lafayette, and scored his first career goal in an important moment, netting the game-winner in the 84th minute at Princeton.

As a Freshman (2014)
• Played a major midfield role for the Big Red in his rookie season.
• Appeared in 14 contests – making 13 starts – while logging nearly 700 minutes.
• Marked his first collegiate point against Buffalo (Sept. 27), tallying an assist.
• Finished the season with five shots – one on goal – however, his greatest attribute was his ball possession as a holding midfielder.
• Was excellent in defensive cover and getting the Big Red’s counterattack going.

Before Cornell
• Was a three-sport athlete at the Delbarton School, earning all-county honors for the county and state championship squad.
• Played for the Player Development Academy squad for the U.S. Soccer Development Academy as part of their U15/16 squad that took first place in the regional conference and earned a spot at the national finals in Dallas.
• Was also a part of the Princeton Soccer Club that was Super Y national champions in 2011.
• Also competed in track and field and golf.

Personal
• Tommy Carroll Griffin is the son of David Griffin and Celeste Como.
• He has an older brother, Ryan, who attends Colgate '17.
