Cornell has established itself as one of the premiere men's squash programs in the country under head coach Mark Devoy, who has completed 12 seasons at the helm. Devoy has a 126-89 overall record and has led his teams to a .500 mark or above in each of his 12 seasons. His position became The James Broadhead `57 Head Coach of Squash when it was endowed in May 2015. In 2015-16, Cornell won six straight matches toward the end of the season before ultimately finishing 10th in the nation with a second-place finish at the College Squash Association's Hoehn Cup.

Devoy collected his 100th career victory Nov. 24, 2013 against Western Ontario at Belkin International Squash Courts. The Big Red went on to finish the season ranked sixth in the country, marking the sixth straight year in which Cornell qualified for the Potter Cup — the top flight in the CSA's national championships. The program's best finish came under Devoy's guidance in 2012, when it knocked off Yale in the quarterfinals of the Potter Cup en route to a final national ranking of fourth. The Big Red followed that up with a program-record .727 winning percentage in the 2012-13 season, winning a record five Ivy League matches.

Devoy has mentored some of the best players in the country. Aditya Jagtap '15 was named a CSA All-America First Team selection after his senior season to give Cornell at least one first-team representative among the nation's elite in eight consecutive years. Nick Sachvie '14 finished the season ranked No. 2 individually in 2011.

Prior to his time at Cornell, Devoy worked with some of the nation's top junior players in the country while serving as the head squash professional at Heights Casino in Brooklyn since 2000. During that time he has worked closely with six members of the United States junior squads, including training players on nationally ranked college squads from Harvard, Princeton and Yale.

He has also served as tournament director for the Waymuller U.S. Women’s Open, the Baird E. Haney Junior Selection event, Heights Casino FutureStars Tournament and the Johnson Doubles Squash Tournament. Devoy worked as a personal trainer/coach for at least one team member of the 1994, '96, '98 and 2000 New Zealand junior men's world championship teams.

Before coming to the United States, Devoy was a professional squash coach based out of the Hamilton Squash Club in New Zealand. He served as a regional coach and was the director of Junior Kiwi Sport Squash Development in the Waikato Region.

Devoy also played professionally from 1980-83 on the international circuit, earning the No. 3 ranking while playing in France.

Devoy and his wife, Julee, the women's squash coach at Cornell, reside in Ithaca.
