Biography
CSA Scholar Athlete (2019, 2020)
As a senior (2019-20)
• Ranked third on team in victories, posting an 8-7 record from the bottom third of the ladder.
• Recorded a pair of victories in Ivy League play, including a win at No. 9 at Jan. 11 to secure the team's lone point against highly-ranked Yale.
• Won two of three Hoehn Cup matches against opponents from Franklin & Marshall and Columbia.
• Served as team tri-captain.
• Named College Squash Association Scholar Athlete for second straight year.
As a junior (2018-19)
• Led team with .700 winning percentage, posting 7-3 record from bottom two positions in order.
• Tied for team lead in Ivy League victories with three, defeating opponents from Brown, Yale and Princeton against just one loss.
• Won both appearances in Hoehn Cup against opponents from St. Lawrence and Western Ontario (the latter in five games) to end season on three-match winning streak.
• Named College Squash Association Scholar-Athlete.
As a sophomore (2017-18)
• Emerged as a regular in the lineup, winning six matches against 11 losses from the bottom four positions in the order.
• Started the season hot with a pair of victories at the Cornell Round Robin, then defeated an opponent from Columbia on Dec. 2 in his first Ivy League tilt.
• Won three of four non-league matches in January, including a close 11-9, 12-10, 12-10 decision at No. 7 to clinch the Big Red's upset victory over Navy on Jan. 31.
As a freshman (2016-17)
• Recorded 2-1 mark from the No. 9 position in first collegiate matches.
• Won debut against an opponent from Dickinson in the Cornell Round Robin, then won in three games on Jan. 18 at Hobart.
• Made Ivy League debut on Feb. 5, dropping a four-game match against an opponent from Harvard.
Prior to Cornell
• Competing out of the Northern New Jersey Squash Association, highest national ranking in the US Squash BU19 Division was 43rd.
• Also ranked as high as 31rd in the BU17 Division.
• Won division in the NY Regional Squash Championships in May 2016.
• Four-time recipient of the US Squash Scholar Athlete Award.
Personal
• Jared Noah Scherl is the son of Jonathan and Marci Scherl, and he has one brother and one sister.
• Has five cousins who have competed in collegiate squash including Hannah Scherl, current member of the Cornell women's squash team.
• Both paternal grandparents attended Cornell.
• Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
