Biography
CSA Scholar Athlete (2019)
As a senior (2018-19)
• Competed exclusively at No. 3 position, posting a 6-12 record.
• Named College Squash Association Scholar-Athlete.
• Won five-game match against opponent from Virginia on Dec. 1.
• Lone Ivy League victory came in three-game decision against opponent from Brown on Feb. 2.
• Served as team co-captain alongside classmate Andy Muran.
As a junior (2017-18)
• Led the team with an 11-9 record, competing almost exclusively at the No. 2 position.
• Only two appearances at No. 1 resulted in three-game victories, including a memorable 24-22, 11-5, 11-6 marathon victory over Navy's Jack Herold on Feb. 25.
• That victory made Hanson the lone member of the team to win all three of his matches at the Hoehn Cup.
• Recorded a pair of four-game victories in Ivy League play against opponents from Dartmouth and Brown.
• One of team's tri-captains.
As a sophomore (2016-17)
• Tied for team lead in victories with 9-10 record from top third of the order, sharing Most Valuable Player honors with Augie Jones.
• Started off strong with victories in five of his first six matches, then recorded a key point Jan. 27 against Franklin & Marshall.
• Rallied from two sets down to win in five against his opponent from the Diplomats in a match that Cornell would go on to win, 5-4.
• The Big Red's lone three-match winner at the Hoehn Cup, including three-game victories against opponents from Navy and Princeton before a win against George Washington in the finale.
As a freshman (2015-16)
• Stepped right into a spot in the top third of the order, posting a 7-11 record while competing in all of the Big Red's 18 team matches.
• Most frequently slotted into the No. 3 position, where he won five matches — including two in five sets against opponents from Dartmouth and Franklin & Marshall on consecutive weekends in February.
• Finished the year 2-5 in Ivy League play.
Prior to Cornell
• Competed with The Hotchkiss School for four years and helped the squad win a Founders League championship.
• Played at the No. 1 position and served as a captain during his senior season.
Personal
• Perry Wells Hanson is the son of Alex and Laura Hanson, and he has two sisters.
• Youngest sister, Abby Hanson '16, played lacrosse at Cornell.
• Both parents also attended Cornell, as did his grandfather and cousin.
• Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
