Biography
At Cornell
Catanese leads the team on a daily basis throughout the season with is hard work and determination. A critical player throughout the dual meet campaign, Catanese was also valuable at the Ivy League Championships as the team's fourth-highest scorer, making the consolation final in 200 backstroke, 200 butterfly and 400 IM. Catanese was voted by his teammates as a tri-captain for his senior year. In 2012, he had a breakout performance at the Ivy Championship meet, posting best times in all his races and soring valuable team points. He successfully completed a very demanding double when he made finals in both the 200 backstroke and the 200 butterfly in the same day. Catanese was happy to break the 1:50 barrier in the 200 backstroke and the 4:00 barrier in the 400 IM.
At Maggie L. Walker Governor's School
Catanese swam on an All-America relay team at Maggie L. Walker Governor's School. A state finalist and team captain, he qualified for both U.S.A. and NCSA junior nationals. Catanese was a four-time U.S.A. Swimming Scholastic All-American.
Personal
Benjamin Peter Catanese is the son of Michael and Anna Catanese and has two brothers. She is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
