At Cornell
After a very successful junior campaign capped with an Ivy League championship in the 400 IM, Dean Holcomb will serve as a tri-captain for the Big Red as a senior. His championship time of 3:52.94 at the Ivies was also good for first place in the school's record books and earned him first-team All-Ivy honors, and his time of 1:48.30 in the 200 butterfly was good for third all-time for the Big Red and earned him second-team All-Ivy honors. In addition to the 400 IM and 200 fly, Holcomb also had the team's best time last year in the 500 freestyle.
As well as the Ivy championships, other highlights in 2009-10 for Holcomb included wins in the 100 free vs. Colgate, the 200 free vs. both Yale and Columbia, the 500 free vs Columbia, the 1,000 free and 200 IM vs. Binghamton, the 100 IM vs Colgate, and the 200 fly vs. both Columbia and Brown.
For his efforts, Holcomb was a co-recipient of the swimming team's MVP award in 2009-10.
Personal
Dean Holcomb is the son of Dean and Cindy Holcomb. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
