Biography
As a junior (2019-20)
• Competed in six meets for the Big Red as a junior.
• Posted five personal-bests at the Zippy Invitational, including the 100-butterfly (51.27) and 200-butterfly (1:52.21).
• Qualified for the A Final of the 200-butterfly at the Zippy Invitational, placing sixth among 24 swimmers in personal record time.
• Notched a top-three finish in the 200-butterfly against St. Bonaventure, placing third overall.
• Finished sixth in the 100-butterfly against Binghamton.
As a sophomore (2018-19)
• Achieved six personal best times this season.
• Placed fifth in the 500 free against St. Bonaventure.
• Earned top six finishes in butterfly events in dual meets against Columbia, Yale, Brown and Bryant.
Prior to Cornell
• Bachert was a three-time member of the Section II All-Star team while swimming at Niskayuna HS.
• Named varsity MVP as a junior and elected team captain as a senior.
• Two-time all-region selection.
• Set the school's record in the 100 fly.
• Was named to the Scholar-Athlete team in each of his three varsity seasons after moving to New York from Australia.
• Helped his Schenectady-Saratoga Swim Club team to a pair of Adirondack Long Course titles and a Gold Short Course crown.
• Transfer from the University at Buffalo.
Personal
• Ethan Avery Bachert is the son of Andrew and Debra Bachert and has a younger sister.
• He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
