• Member of the school record-breaking 400-freestyle relay (2:55.89) and 400-medley relay (3:11.62) teams at Ivies, helping the 400-medley relay team to a third place finish.
• Guided the 200-freestyle relay (No. 2 - 1:19.51) and 200-medley relay (No. 3 – 1:26.64) teams to a pair of Cornell all-time top-10 marks at the conference meet.

• Captured both the 50 free and 100 fly races in a dual meet victory at St. Bonaventure and the 50 free in a win at Bryant.
As a sophomore (2017-18)
• Earned second-team All-Ivy honors as the anchor of the 200 medley relay squad, setting a school record to place second at the Ivy League Championship with a 1:26.00.
• Posted the school's 10th-fastest swim in the 100 free (44.57) to take 18th at the Ivy meet.
• Placed 11th in the 100 butterfly with a 48.21, good for an NCAA B time, a lifetime best and the sixth-fastest swim in school history.
• Anchored the 400 medley relay to the second-fastest time at Cornell, placing fourth overall in 3:12.24.
• Made the B final of the 50 free, matching his career-best time of 20.18.
• Swam the second leg of the 400 free relay that finished sixth overall with the eighth-best time in Cornell history.
• Topped the field in the 50 free in a dual meet win over St. Bonaventure.
• Posted nine top three swims in dual meet individual races.
As a freshman (2016-17)
• Has top 10 all-time marks in the 50 and 100 free, the 100 back and the 100 fly.
• Best time of 20.18 in the 50 free is the sixth-fastest mark ever at Cornell and was good for an NCAA B qualification and a spot on the podium in eighth place overall.
• His time of 48.69 in the 100 butterfly is No. 8 all-time at Cornell.
• Posted the ninth-fastest time in school history in the 100 free (44.66) to take 11th at the Ivy League Championships, a mark he beat at the Akron Zippy Invitational in swimming the fourth-best mark of 44.49.
• Swam the anchor leg of the school record-breaking 200 free relay that went 1:19.09. 0.82 seconds faster than the previous mark.
• Anchored the 400 free (2:57.31) and the 400 medley (3:12.34) relays that swam the second-fastest times in Big Red history.
• Won the 100 free against Yale and at the Akron Zippy Invitational.
Prior to Cornell
• Was a three-time All-American at William Penn Charter School.
• Owns team records in the 50 and 100 free.
• Swam lead-off leg on two All-America 200 medley relay squads.

• John Michael Mahoney is the son of Jay and Meg Mahoney and has an older sister.
• His father was a swimmer at Penn State.
• He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
