Biography

As a junior (2019-20)

• Raced in all nine meets as a junior, including the Ivy League Championships.
• Scored points for the Big Red in the 100-butterfly and 200-backstroke at Ivies, swimming season-bests in both events.
• Placed 19th in the 100-butterfly (48.87) and 23rd in the 200-backstroke (1:49.86) at the conference meet.
• Made the A Final of the 100-butterfly at Akron’s Zippy Invitational, finishing seventh overall in 49.74.
• Also notched top-15 finishes in the 100- and 200-backstroke events at the Zippy Invite, placing 13th at both distances.
• His preliminary 100-backstroke time at the Zippy Invite (50.01) marked a season-best.
• Captured seven top-five individual finishes at dual meets over the course of the season.
• Won the 100-backstroke against St. Bonaventure and the 100-freestyle against Binghamton, helping Cornell to a pair of dual meet victories.
• Placed fourth in the 100-backstroke at an Ivy League tri-meet against Dartmouth and Harvard and a dual against Columbia, adding a fourth-place finish in the 100-butterfly against the Lions.

As a sophomore (2018-19)

• Swam the third leg of the 200 medley relay that had the fourth-fastest time in school history (1:27.80).
• Scored individually in the 100 back (21st, 49.92), 200 back (18th, 1:48.36) and the 100 fly (22nd, 49.11) at the Ivy League Championship.
• Captured third place in the 100 fly at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational and had top five finishes in both the 100 and 200 back.
• Won the 100 free in a dual meet win over St. Bonaventure.
• Touched second in both the 100 back and 100 fly against Columbia.
• Was second in the 100 fly in a win over Bryant.

As a freshman (2017-18)

• Earned All-Ivy second-team honors after a runner-up finish in the 200 medley relay.
• Swam the third leg of the race, setting a school record by 0.44 seconds with a 1:26.00. 
• Finished 12th in the 100 butterfly, with his time of 48.36 finishing No. 7 all-time at Cornell.
• Also had the sixth-fastest time in the 100 back to place 16th in the 100 back (48.89).
• Registered the ninth-fastest time in school history in the 200 back (1:48.30) to place 19th overall.
• Had eight top three individual race finishes in dual meets, including winning the 100 fly against both Columbia and Yale.
• Captured the 100 fly title at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational to go along with a second-place finish in the 100 back and a fourth-place effort in the 200 back.

Prior to Cornell

• Mullin was a two-time NISCA All-American swimmer at South Pasadena HS.
• Was a five-time first-team all-area swimmer and graduated with five school records.
• Named a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.

Personal

• Jacob Patrick Mullin is the son of Patrick and Christina Mullin and has a younger brother and sister.
• He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
