Biography
At Cornell
With raw speed, Stepanian has contributed to the team over his three years here in the 50 free, 100 fly and relays. He is always someone to count on at the end of the season at Championships. As a sopohmore, he broke 50 seconds for the first time in his 100 fly at the Ivy League Championships and he carried that momentum into last season as well. Stepanian will be doing an internship for the 2012 fall semester, but looks to join the team for the second part of the year..
Prior to Cornell
Stepanian excelled as a sprinter. He was a four-time letter winner at Blackhawk HS where he recorded many achievements. His accolades and honors include being named an All-American three times (2008, 2009) and a Pennsylvania Gold Medalist twice (2008, 2009). He holds the region's record in the 50 and 100 freestyle and earned a spot on the all-state team six times (2007, 2008, 2009). Besides swimming in high school, Mark was a member of the Blakhawk Cougar Aquatic Club, where he served as team captain from 2006 through 2009. He made the Allegheny Mountain Zone All-Star Team twice (2006, 2007) and was a National Level Participant twice (2008, 2009).
Personal
Mark Allan Stepanian is the son of Davis and Janice and he has one older brother. He is enrolled in the College of Engineering.
