As a senior (2019-20)
• Competed in eight meets during senior campaign.
• Posted a pair of season-best times in the 200-freestyle (1:42.55) and 500-freestyle (4:38.11) at the Zippy Invitational.
• Qualified for the B Final of the 500-freestyle at the Zippy Invite, placing 13th.
• Qualified for the C Final of the 200-freestyle at the Zippy Invitational, finishing 21st.
• Recorded two top-three finishes in an Ivy League dual against Brown, placing second in the 1,000-freestyle in a season-best 9:34.22 and third in the 500-freestyle (4:39.27).
• Finished second in the 500-freestyle in Cornell’s dual meet victory over St. Bonaventure.
• Placed third in the 200-freestyle against Binghamton.
As a junior (2018-19)
• Won the 500 free (4:34.03) and the 1000 free (9:30.52) against Brown.
• Runner-up in the 500 free versus Columbia and Yale.
• Placed third in the 200 free against Bryant.
• Finished third in the 1000 free against Columbia.
• Achieved fifth in the 100 free, 200 free, and 1,000 free against Bryant, St. Bonaventure, and Yale, respectively.
• Placed seventh in the 100 free at the Bomber/Ithaca Winter Invitational.
As a sophomore (2017-18)
• Posted a top 10 Cornell time in the mile at the Ivy League Championship, finishing 21st overall in 15:51.04.
• Led the Big Red with a 19th-place effort in the 1,000 free, touching the wall in 9:21.11 for the eighth-fastest swim at Cornell.
• Swam the third leg of the 800 free relay that earned the fourth-fastest time in school history (6:34.73).
• Won the 500 free in three dual meets (Columbia, St. Bonaventure and Brown), as well as at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational.
• Placed third in the 1,650 free and second in the 200 free at the Bomber Invite.
As a freshman (2016-17)
• Made the Ivy League Championship team, scoring in the 1,000 and 1,650 free.
• Took 20th in both events, while also swimming the 500 free.
• Won the 500 free against Brown and the 200 IM vs. St. Bonaventure.
• Posted the team's fourth-fastest times in both distance freestyle swims.
Prior to Cornell
• Daniel was an All-American in the 500 free while competing for Five Star Swim Club.
• He was a three-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.
• Won state gold in the 200 IM and 500 free as a senior and four other state medals during his career.
• Was a six-time all-state selection from 2014-16.
Personal
• Matthew Ryan Daniel is the son of David and Beth Daniel and has two older sisters.
• He is enrolled in the College of Engineering.
