Biography
At Cornell
Despite getting very sick midway through his freshman season, Middleton managed to comeback strong in the end and swim a best time in the 50 free and nearly matching his best time in his 100 backstroke. Heading into next year, the program expects a healthy Middleton to perform even better and be a key contributor in sprint events and relays.
Prior to Cornell
Middleton was the 2011 NYSPAL Wingate Award winner as the Outstanding Swimmer-Athlete as a senior at Curtis HS. The four-time NYCPSAL State swim team member, four-time MVP of the Staten Island Boys swimming championship and four-time Staten Island Advance all-star set seven school records during his career. A two-time Scholastic All-American, he received All-America consideration in the 100 free and 100 back. Middleton set the NYC PSAL record in the 100 free. He swam club for the Blue Arrow Swim Club, serving as team captain.
Personal
William Earl Middleton III is the son of Earl and Gail Middleton. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
