Biography
At Cornell
Mendelson had a strong beginning to 2013 season, recording best times in both the 100 and 200 backstroke races at Ithaca College’s Invitational meet in December. He was abroad second semester and will be looking to carry his momentum from last fall into the 2013-14 campaign. Mendelson is a dedicated athlete who pushes himself on a daily basis in practice. He brings good training habits to the team and a positive attitude. He will be looking to break into the championship lineup this coming season.
Prior to Cornell
Mendelson was a four-time all-conference selection at Grimsley HS. A team captain as a senior, he led his team to a sixth-place finish at the state championships in 2010. Mendelson was a U.S.A. Swimming Scholastic All-American.
Personal
Willie Alexander Mendelson is the son of Steve and Carmen Mendelson and has a younger brother. He is enrolled in the College of Engineering.
