Daescu has completed two seasons as the assistant coach for the men's tennis team, helping guide the Big Red to a 25-16 overall record and 7-7 mark in Ivy League play over that span.
Daescu comes to the Big Red after three years as a professional and a decorated collegiate career at Oklahoma. He competed on the ATP Challengers ITF Futures Circuit and was a member of Romania's 2012 Davis Cup team. He's highest ATP ranking in doubles was 126th in the world, while he was ranked as high as 654th in singles. At Oklahoma, Daescu was an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American in 2010, reaching the NCAA quarterfinals both as an individual and with the Sooners at the team competition. He was also an ITA Central Region champion in both singles and doubles in 2008.
