Biography
One of the hardest workers on the team, Offutt is strong and fast and is one of the team’s hardest hitters. He is the strongest member of the Cornell team physically, which has helped him develop one of the biggest serves and forehands on the team. The combination of power and athleticism could make Offutt primed for a breakout campaign during his last season for the Big Red.
2008- 09 Season
Offutt’s spring was highlighted with a dominating win at No. 3 doubles against Duquesne on March 6. Alongside Bryant Yung, the duo easily won the set 8-4 to help Cornell sweep the match.
2007-08 Season
Offutt had a 4-2 singles and 3-2 doubles record last fall. He was a semifinalist at both Cornell Fall Invitationals and advanced to the finals of the B doubles at the Cornell Fall Indoor with Bryant Yung.
At Charlotte
Offutt was ranked No. 20 in the Southern Tennis Association, and he is a graduate of Charlotte CDS.
Personal
Richard Edwin Offutt is the son of Dr. Richard and Mrs. Rebecca Offutt and has one younger and two older sisters. He is enrolled in Cornell’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
