Provides strategic leadership and oversight for all compliance related activities for the department of Athletics and Physical Education. (1) 

  • Serves as a member of the Executive Team and advises the Athletic Director and other members of the Executive team on compliance related issues. (1) 
  • Collaborates with department and campus partners throughout the University (e.g., the admissions’, registrars' and financial aid offices) to further the institution's compliance efforts.(2) 
  • Helps to ensure that the institution follows all Ivy policies relative to financial aid and admissions procedures. (2) 
  • Serves as the athletic department’s liaison to the Office of General Counsel, Title IX Office, Admissions and Financial Aid Office. (2) 
  • Provides strategic oversight and leadership for the athletic department’s Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) program. 


Amy Meldrim Foster ’95 is the Senior Deputy Director of Athletics for the Student-Athlete Experience at Cornell University. With more than two decades of progressive leadership in collegiate athletics, Foster oversees a wide range of student-athlete-facing functions, including compliance, student services, strength and conditioning, athletic training, and mental conditioning and leadership. She also supervises multiple varsity programs, and plays a key role in strategic planning and departmental operations across all 37 varsity sports. Foster's work is grounded in a deep commitment to student well-being, development, and success—both on and off the field.
 
Foster's career began in coaching at Hobart & William Smith Colleges and transitioned into student-athlete support at Boston University, laying the foundation for her administrative path. Since joining Cornell in 2004, she has held a series of increasingly impactful roles, reflecting her evolving expertise and leadership. A former two-sport varsity athlete at Cornell (field hockey and lacrosse), she brings a personal understanding of the student-athlete experience to her work.
 
Across campus, Foster is a trusted leader and collaborator. She has contributed to numerous university-wide initiatives focused on student support, well-being, and belonging and has advised and supported several student-athlete organizations including SAAC, Red Key (Cornell’s Student-Athlete Honor Society), RallyCap and WOCA (Women of Color – Athletics). Her committee work has revolved around Academic Support, Title IX, Student-Athlete Mental Health and other well-being initiatives and initiatives that promote overall personal, academic and athletic success. Foster has also served in national leadership roles, including as chair of both the NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championship and Rules Committees. Her leadership reflects a holistic and evolving approach to enhancing the student-athlete experience at every level.
