2003-04 Men's Tennis Roster
Biography
At Cornell: Looking to make the most of his senior year, Gallin has had a healthy start this season after injuries limited his court time the last two years. At the Princeton Invitational last fall, he lost a heartbreaker, 7-6 in the third, to the No. 2 seed from Pepperdine. After picking up two wins against Rutgers and Princeton at the ECAC championships, Gallin rolled to the quarterfinals of the regionals where he lost a close 7-6, 6-4 duel to the eventual winner. He finished the fall ranked No. 13 in the Northeast. Although injury limited his time at singles last year, Gallin was still effective in doubles. He and Scott Spencer were 7-4 in 2002-03, and this year they have started strong again. The Red duo won all three matches at No. 2 doubles in the ECACs. In the regionals, they fought through to the round of 16, where they fell 9-8 to the No. 2 seed from Brown. Gallin has set a goal this season of being a first-team All-Ivy selection and contending for a spot at the NCAA championships. He is the hardest hitter on the team and takes the ball early, running his opposition from side to side. He is a student in the College of Human Ecology.
At Ward Melville: Gallin played two years of basketball, ran track and was all-state in tennis twice at Ward Melville High School. He was a finalist at the New York state high school tennis tournament. He ranked in the top 10 in the East and was No. 68 nationally.
Personal: Zach D. Gallin is the son of Howard and Deborah Gallin. Born: 10-13-82.
