2011-12 Men's Track and Field Roster
Biography
At Cornell
Thomas came to Cornell with a very strong work ethic but battled numerous track-related injuries that prevented him from performing to expectations. Dan had ups and downs during both the Indoor and Outdoor seasons but demonstrated significant maturity at the very end of the Outdoor season, Thomas showed promise and rebounded from earlier disappointment by making the Heptagonal team. Thomas participated in the 400m and showed a superb level of spirit for other team members. He was a member the IC4A 4x400m team running a 48.2 and keeping the team in the hunt for a medal. For the new year, Thomas is already focusing on improving his fitness and training for the 800 more where with his speed and smooth running style he could become a factor at the HEPS.
As a senior, Thomas took second at the Indoor Heps in the 500, scoring eight points for Cornell. He also ran the anchor leg of the Big Red's second-place 4x400 team. At the Penn Relays, he helped the 4x400 team win a Penn Relays wheel in the Heps 4x400. He was also on the sixth-place IC4A team later in that competition. Outdoors, he took fifth in the 400, scoring two points for Cornell at the Outdoor Heps. He later went on to run the first leg of the school's winning 4x400 relay. His 400 outdoor time of 47.59 at one point in the year puts him in seventh place all-time at Cornell.
