Karabinos' up-to-date results

As a Senior (2016-17)
Karabinos competed in three meets in his final season at Cornell, all in the javelin. His seasonal best of 149’3” came at the Bison Outdoor Classic while his 140’9” at the Larry Ellis Invitational was good for 18th place.

As a Junior (2015-16)
Karabinos competed in seven meets for the Big Red as a junior, earning eight top ten finishes. In the triple jump, Karabinos used a 44’4” jump to earn fifth at the April Cabin Fever Indoor Invitational and in the long jump, he used a 20’6.5” to finish sixth at the Cornell Outdoor Upstate Challenge. Karabinos also used a 156’0” throw in the javelin for a fifth place finish at the Big Red Invitational.

As a Sophomore (2014-15)
As a multi-event athlete, Karabinos finished fourth in the decathlon at Penn Relays with 6,204 points. He also placed fourth in the javelin (158’) at the Cornell Outdoor Invitational. At the outdoor Upstate Challenge, his discus throw of 130’ 8” was good for seventh, and, at the UC Riverside meet, he finished eighth in the pole vault (12’ 9.5“).

As a Freshman (2013-14)
Like fellow freshman Jamerson, Karabinos primarily competed in the multi-events during his first season. He placed 6th with an overall score of 4533 in his first heptathlon at the Greg Page Relays. He showed steady improvements, upping his position to 4th with an overall score of 4587 in the heptathlon at the Cornell Upstate Challenge. His season best heptathlon showing came at the Bomber Invitational where he posted an overall score of 4738 to notch 2nd place. The move outdoors and the addition of events did not slow Karabinos down. He took home 1st place with an overall score of 6184 in the decathlon at the Cortland Classic Invitational. He demolished the field at the Cornell Outdoor Invitational, posting a career best decathlon score of 6501 to again place 1st. He concluded his season at the Outdoor Heps, posting a strong 6226 decathlon score to finish 7th at the event.

Before Cornell
As a four-year member of the indoor and outdoor track and field teams at Amity Regional HS, Karabinos won numerous conference and class championships. In his senior year alone, he captured the Southern Connecticut Conference (SCC), East Sectional and Class LL championships in the long jump and triple jump as well as the Class LL championship in the 110-meter high hurdles. He was also the State Open Decathlon Champion in the 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons. As a junior, he won the East Section, Class LL and SCC championship in the discus event.  

Personal
David Joseph Karabinos is the son of Gregory '82 and Alicia '83 Karabinos. He is the fourth member of his family to attend Cornell, as his older sister Kristina is currently in her junior year. David is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
