Biography
At Cornell: Derrick had a very good freshman year. He was the top freshman at the Heps, finishing seventh, just one place out of scoring. He was also an IC4A qualifier as well as an NCAA regional qualifier. His 200-5 seasons best was also a freshman record and ranks him fifth on the all-time top 10 list for the new javelin. Derrick is already a good technician, and with some added bulk and strength, he will be the future of javelin throwing for the Big Red.
Top Performance: javelin--200-5.
At Phillips Andover Academy: Derrick earned seven letters in high school between football and track. He was the New England prep school champion in the javelin in 2000, 2001 and 2002. He also placed seventh at the Junior Nationals in 2001 in the javelin.
Personal: Derrick Anthony Bass is the son of Faye Williams and has two younger brothers and a younger sister.
