Biography

A 5-6 guard on the basketball team, he set several all-time Cornell records, including the career points mark of 1,253, over his three-year varsity career. A two-time All-Ivy selection, he averaged 23.0 points as a senior for the highest seasonal scoring average ever at Cornell. He also set the single-game scoring record when he recorded 42 points vs. Syracuse in 1956. Overall, in 24 games played by the Big Red during the [apos]56 season, he scored 20 or more points in 14 times and tallied 30 or more eight times. Rolles was second on the team in scoring in 1953-54, helping Cornell to the Ivy League title and its first appearance in the NCAA basketball tournament. Co-captain of the team as a senior, he was a two-time United Press Small All-America team selection for players under 5-10.
