Biography

At Cornell: Anemia prevented Ed from having a consistent freshman campaign, but he battled back and showed glimpses of promise at various points throughout the year. The best thing about Ed[apos]s freshman campaign was that he ran the best when the stakes were the highest. In cross country, Ed won the Reif Memorial to earn a spot on the Heps roster. Indoors, Ed ran an exceptional third leg on the 4x800 at the Heps to take the team from sixth to third, helping the Big Red win its first indoor title since 1978. Outdoors, Ed ran a strong 1:54.0 leadoff relay leg at the Penn Relays and came back to play a key role in the 4x800 team earning All-East honors at the IC4A championships. A healthy summer and fall of training should allow Ed to develop the aerobic foundation he needs to have to be a team leader in cross country and his preferred track event -- the 1500.

Top Performances: 1,000 meters--2:34.30; 1500 meters--4:00.13; mile--4:23.06.

At Bay Shore: Ed was the state runner-up in the 1,000 and claimed the championship at the Stanner Games in 2001 at Bay Shore HS. He also placed seventh in the high school mile at the Penn Relays with a time of 4:17. He earned four letters in both indoor and outdoor track and cross country.
