As a Senior (2014-15)A captain his senior year, Phillips continued to compete in the distance events, setting a personal best at the Sykes-Sabock Challenge in the 5000m and snagged the ninth-best time in program history in the 3000 at indoor IC4A's.
As a Junior (2013-14)Phillips took 51 seconds off his 8K time this season, beginning with a 25:41.1, 6th place finish at the season-opener against Army. He also ran at the Boston College Invitational and the Pre-National Meet, but his best time of the season came at tehe Ivy League/Heptagonal Championships where he placed 52nd with a time of 24:50.7.
On the track, Phillips participated at five events in his junior season. He posted a season best 15:04.75 in the 5000 to grab 36
th place at the Sam Howell Invitational. He marked a season best 30:56.55 in the 10,000 at the Bison Outdoor Classic to grab 26
th place. He wrapped up his season at the Outdoor IC4A’s where he took home 21
st place in the 10,000.
As A Sophomore (2012-13)Phillips competed in the season-opening Army-Binghamton tri-meet, taking 19th place for the Big Red. He followed that performance with an impressive 15th-place showing at the Yellowjacket Invitational before taking 42nd place at the Paul Short Run's open race. Phillips ended his year as the seventh Big Red runner at the Princeton Invitational.
On the track, Phillips ran distance events with a seasonal best of 8:43.29 in the 3K at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational in February. He qualified for the Outdoor IC4As in May, running in the 10K and placing 14th with a time of 31:23.13.
As a Freshman (2011-12)Though he missed the year's first two meets with an ankle sprain, Phillips competed in three more meets. He ran at the Paul Short Invitational, placed 57th at the Yellowjacket Invitational and finished 26th at the Reif Memorial Run.
Before CornellJonathan received nine varsity letters for cross country and track and field in high school. He has earned All-State honors in cross country, as well as multiple All-Region and All-District honors and has won multiple district titles.
